Aşkım,
I know how you enjoy the stories, which you always request for me to tell, especially in those late evenings when sleep becomes troubling in its difficulty to achieve. At times, we both may be busy with the lives we choose to lead and responsibilities we must follow through with. I may not always be able to give you these stories in person.
Instead I have chosen to write them for you with the typewriter you so lovingly gave me for my own birthday, making it a day worthy of celebration when I cannot remember the last time it had been celebrated.
I have much to celebrate this year as opposed to the last several. I have far more to appreciate and to be grateful for. You. I am most grateful for you and for having the opportunity to know and love you these past few months, nearly a year. It has nearly been a year since we met once more.
Within this book, you will find some of the stories I have already told you. You will find new stories, which I have yet to share with you. On the final page, you will find my favorite story.
I hope you take joy in reading each of them as I took great joy in writing each for you.
How ever busy or dark our lives may be, I believe we will have one another. I believe we still have many stories to tell.
Yours,
Kurt Dmitri Volkov
